Pattern Inspiration
I have always thought crocheted Santa hats were super cute for Christmas time fun, and last year I finally got around to making one. I tested the Super Simple Santa Hat for my friend Victoria at All Trades V and the hats were a huge hit with friends and family. This year, I knew I wanted to try my hand at designing a Santa hat of my own.
Before I make a new design though, I always do some research around what others have done, so I don’t inadvertently copy someone else’s idea. When doing my research I noticed something – most of the crochet patterns for Santa hats I found were pretty basic. Now, I love a good classic, but this year I wanted something a bit extra. Something with some pizzazz. The past few years, I’ve been using my Coffeehouse Beanie crochet pattern to make Santa inspired messy bun hats and they have always sold out. So I figured, why not take that stitch pattern and make it into an actual Santa hat, especially because I absolutely love the bean stitch. And so the Coffeehouse Santa Hat crochet pattern was born.

Sizing & Construction
This crochet pattern has instructions for 4 sizes – Baby, Child, Small Adult, and Large Adult – giving you options for the whole family! It’s worked from the bottom up, first in turned rows for the brim, then in joined rounds for the body.
Yarn Suggestions
The sample was made using Caron One Pound yarn, but WeCrochet Brava, Lion Brand Heartland, and Loops & Threads Impeccable would all make great substitutes.
