Half Double Crochet Variation Guide: How to Level Up Your Work

Whether you are a beginner crocheter looking for something new, or an experienced crocheter wanting to elevate your half double crochet game, you are in the right place! While the basic half double crochet is a beloved stitch, sometimes you want something different to make your piece pop. Enter, one of the many half double crochet variations!

To note, many of these stitches are not directly interchangeable with your basic half double crochet stitch. Some are shorter or taller, some are wider or more intricate, so keep that in mind if you are following someone else’s pattern – you might not be able to just change the stitch without also making some pattern modifications.

The goal is to keep this Guide as a living document, meaning it will be ongoing and continually updated. Below, you’ll find a list of the variations I will be adding to the blog, but expect this to update as I learn new stitches! As I write tutorials for each stitch, I will update the list with that link. That way, everything is in one neat, easy to reference list. So, make sure to bookmark this post (or pin it on Pinterest!) so you’ll always have these stitch tutorials right at your fingertips!
